Did you know that Halo Huskies are Movie Stars?!

Agouti Siberian Husky with one Blue Eye and One Partieye named Loki.

Loki the Husky was featured in Disney’s Togo.

Loki was born on May 20th, 2015. He was 3 years old when he was in the film. He started working with their professional animal trainer and the stars of the movie by 2019.

Thomas Gunderson, a world-renowned trainer, contacted Tim of Halo Huskies, in late June 2018. He wanted to come out and see Loki (the Husky) in person to determine if he would match up closely enough to the main adult dog they would be using to film the movie Togo. Tim agreed to let them come out, so Universal Studios sent a trainer out to see the dog in person.

Loki Becomes a Movie Star

Our Husky, Loki, met the physical requirements of the movie dog they wanted, having blue eyes, no white on his face, etc. The Head Trainer was also in contact with our vet who took Loki’s measurements around July 8th. Once it was determined that Loki met every required measurement, they negotiated a lease agreement, which was signed in July of 2018. They soon picked up Loki, and he was off to Universal Studios, Los Angeles to begin getting ready for the movie!

In February of 2019, Loki went to Calgary, Canada to get ready to begin filming the movie. *See the video clip of Loki running on the ice. This was taken during the movie preparation in Canada*

Huskies Are Smart and Can Be Trained to Do Lots of Tricks

Loki stayed a bit longer than the other dogs, as he performed more stunts in the movie than the other dogs. He did well with their trainer and they enjoyed using him. He came home later, in October of 2019.

Halo Huskies Puppies Were Also Used In the Movie

Another one of our Huskies was used in the movie, too! Loki’s puppy, Hela, played the adolescent Togo (from 4-5 months - adult) in the movie. The studio bought her from Halo Huskies when she was 9 weeks old.

Here is one of the pictures of Loki taken for the measurements before going to the filming. One of the requirements of the film was that the main dog had to have blue eyes, however, Loki is parti-eyed.

Adult male agouti siberian husky standing sideways looking at camera with tongue out. He has one blue eye and one partieye that is mostly blue with brown on top that makes it look like he has a lazy eye.

(He has brown coloring high up on his left eye, which makes it look like a lazy eye.) They said it wouldn’t be a problem and they could cover it up in filming.

There are a total of 5 adult dogs used in the movie, one of those was Loki. (He is now 8 years old).
